Playa District Amenities

Los Angeles, CA

The Playa District Amenity spaces consist of Equity’s main office space along with a variety of open rooms that cater to the tenants throughout the campus. RCH consulted with designers from Industrious in order to create several themed rooms for various events and occasions. Tenants will be able to rent these spaces for company events, marketing and product launches, networking mixers and social gatherings. These rooms will act as an extension of each tenant space allowing for the most flexible and efficient use of shared space.

Several material options were tested to understand the visual benefits of soft vs. hard material selections. Both options play with a neutral color palette with subtle accents of color. The client wanted a warm and inviting interior with materials that would compliment a variety of events.

Shared Meeting Room & Lounge

Flexibility was another key design element of the shared meeting room & lounge. The space was divided into thirds between a formal meeting room with conference table, open lounge with a variety of furniture & the exterior deck. The sliding door between the conference room & lounge along with the bifold door separating the interior space from the exterior deck allows users to adjust the room to their needs.

One of the biggest challenges was creating an inviting shared conference room out of an inward-facing, claustrophobic space with low ceilings and no access to natural light. The space needed to be flexible and able to accommodate meetings of all sizes. The dark, carpeted floor paired with the light wood slat ceiling helped create a sense of height. The space between the wood slats was open to the ceiling above, adding to the illusion of height.

The workplace interior for Equity embraces the design characteristics of the adjacent amenity spaces. A warm neutral material palette and simple architectural elements makes the long, narrow space feel bright and airy. The addition of the exterior deck blurs the separation between interior and exterior and offers an extension to the traditional workspace that employees can enjoy almost year round in the sunny Southern California climate.
