Abacus & Echinus
These salt and pepper mills are designed to be sculptural focal points, objects that spark a conversation at the dining table and inspire each of us to find value in quality design. Going back to the most fundamental elements inspired the design and creation of the Abacus and Echinus salt and pepper mills. The architectural details found in the order of Roman columns provided the basic forms. Further studies of the proportions of the human hand provided the additional details required to fully realize the final product.
As designers, it is our responsibility to understand the impact of the items we create on our environment and find thoughtful solutions that are not only beautiful additions to the world, but mindful of their second life. By using materials from the Keep Life collection, basic, natural elements are combined with fundamental forms to create a solution that embraces the philosophies of circular design.
